North American Beaver Skull (Castor canadensis)
North American Beaver Skull (Castor canadensis)
The North American Beaver (Castor canadensis) is one of two extant beaver species, along with the Eurasian beaver. It is native to North America and has been introduced in South America and Europe. The North American beaver is one of the official national wildlife of Canada symbols and is the official state mammal of Oregon and New York.
This skull is a Grade A specimen and an excellent example of the species. All teeth are intact and in good condition. The nasal turbinates are exceptional and the skull itself exhibits no damage. Note there is a small amount of glue on the top of the snout near the tip above the incisors.
